Site and context

The development site, formerly the White Knight Laundry, is located along Kensal Road in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The buildings that occupied the site comprised light industrial use and two residential units on the edge of the site. The surrounding area consists mainly of mixed-use developments with employment on ground floor, residential on upper floors and immediately opposite the site an existing student accommodation development.

Proposals

The planning scheme submitted was for the demolition of the commercial laundry and residential buildings and erection of up to five storeys with basement mixed-use development comprising 3,345sqm of flexible office, studio and workshop space and student accommodation in the form of 147 cluster rooms and 30 studio rooms.

Current status

Planning consent was granted for our scheme in 2014.
