800 New Homes
Consented
Site and context
Land at Hamilton Lane is located on the eastern fringe of Leicester. Key design requirements included the retention of the public right of way that passes through the eastern extent of the site and the need to consider the setting of nearby heritage assets.
Proposals
A collaborative scheme that included land owned both by Summix and Leicester City Council. The proposals were for the delivery of 800 homes, associated infrastructure, open space, and landscaping.
Current status
Successive planning applications between 2012 and 2014 were consented by Leicester City Council. The development has successfully delivered a mix of both affordable and market housing to the local area. Areas of new public open space, the retention of existing hedgerows, new tree planting and ecological corridors help to connect the site to the wider landscape and allow for increased pedestrian access.
