Site and context
The site is located in the recently extended Bristol Enterprise zone and is immediately adjacent to Bristol University Temple Meads Campus (soon to begin construction). The total area of the site is 0.5 hectares (1.3 acres).
The development proposed comprises demolition of existing buildings and development of 4 buildings – a 5 storey building comprising flexible commercial floorspace and a part 7, part 8 and part 14 storey building interlinked to provide a communal area at ground floor level and 595 student bedspaces, incubator space, shared social and study spaces, roof terrace and associated car parking (for the commercial use).
A planning application was submitted and subsequently appealed. Following a public enquiry held in January 2022, the appeal was successfully allowed by the Inspectorate on 9 March 2022.
